NCA Accreditation :::
LTHS and the North Central Association
Lyons Township High School District 204 is a charter member of the North Central Association (NCA) since the organization’s inception in 1904. Historically, NCA accredited schools through various improvement processes in order to maintain standards of quality among and within its member schools. Accreditation was granted based on schools having met certain, established standards in curriculum, staffing, libraries, facilities, administration, etc.
More recently, NCA has worked closely with state boards of education in developing common accreditation standards and processes; this is true with the Illinois State Board of Education and NCA, as well. NCA offers schools one of three models for school improvement and accreditation: Transitions, Outcomes, or School Improvement. By Board action, LTHS utilizes the School Improvement model for accreditation as this is most closely aligned with the ISBE Quality Review Process and matches our own annual goal setting process.
Annually, LTHS submits an NCA update (as all member schools are required to do), receives accreditation status, and continues to work towards achieving its Board-adopted goals. LTHS is proud to be a NCA 98-year charter member and to participate in the school improvement process.
