Alternative School Division Philosophy
The Alternative School mission is to provide students an alternate pathway to success and
opportunities for personal, academic and social growth that will lead to earning credits toward
graduation.
Alternative School Department Philosophy
Our first commitment is to value students regularly attending school. Through this all things
are possible. Our second commitment is to improve literacy or reading skills and comprehension
levels of all students so that the students can succeed across the curriculum. Our third commitment
is to improve communication between families and our school.
Description of the Program…
The Alternative Program is a minimum one semester program designed to help students gain strategies to function successfully in the regular education environment. The Alternative Program is located in the Corral Building next to South Campus. In addition to a number of core academic course offerings, students participate in a Life Skills Seminar class while enrolled in the Alternative Program. The admission process includes application to the Alternative Program and an interview of the prospective student and parents following review of teacher, counselor, social worker, and administrator observations of student academic performance, attendance patterns, and behavioral history.
