Prerequisite:        At least 15-years-old and have passed at least eight classes (four credits) in the previous two semesters.

The Classroom phase of Driver Education is a graduation requirement, and a student must pass it in order to graduate from LTHS.

Driver Education is a semester course divided into 4 areas: 

  1. Classroom: meets 45 times every other day and emphasizes the classroom standards. 
  2. Simulator: meets every 4th day and develops the visual perceptional skills of driving.  
  3. Range: meets every 4th day and develops the basic car control skills.  
  4. Behind The Wheel (BTW): Students will receive at least two hours of behind the wheel instruction either before, during or after school hours.  It will take place in a dual control car with an instructor stressing the rules of the road, visual-perceptual skills, and basic car controls.
