Enrich-Support-Provide :::

LT Library Launches ESP

ESP (Enrich-Support-Provide) is an innovative program developed by the LT Library to provide reading enrichment for reluctant readers, as well increase parent involvement in reading.  Evening booktalks featuring high-quality young adult literature are held throughout the year and all LT students and parents are invited to attend.  Past evenings have featured fiction, nonfiction, biographies and memoirs, and science fiction and fantasy.  Young adult librarians from the surrounding communities frequently join us for booktalks. In addition, special events have included Girls Read (for moms and daughters), two authors (local author Jim Kokoris and young adult author Malin Alegria), and LT celebrities, Dr. Dennis Kelly, Mr. Dave Franson, Mr. Jeremy Vrtis and Mrs. Nancy Schwerin.  Free paperbacks of featured books are given to all participants.

LT Reads! Summer Reading Program

LT proudly announces the 2008 LT Reads! Summer Reading List.  All current students, as well as incoming freshmen, are encouraged to read a book from the list.  In order to be rewarded for your reading, you can follow these easy steps:

  • Choose a book.  Categories include Multicultural, Fantasy/Sci-Fi, Contemporary Fiction, Historical Fiction, Non-Fiction & Biography, and the Classics.
  • Get the book from the school libraries, local libraries, or the book stores.
  • Read it!
  • Fill out a post card (which you will receive in a mailing; it comes with all of your registration information) and have your parents sign the post card.
  • Mail the post card, or just drop it off in the main office of your campus.  There will be drop boxes in the offices, so you can drop them off when you want.

If you read, you are eligible for the following:

  • Prizes:  during the year, we will pull post cards from the drop boxes.  If your name is called, you will win a prize (pizza, gift certificates, etc).
  • Barbeque:  at the beginning of the school year, there will be a Barbeque hosted at LT where food and games will be provided.  If you do not read, you may not attend.
