Lion Friends :::
The purpose of the Lion Friends is to provide a way for regular education students and special
education students to get to know each other and become friends. In order to accomplish this, we
have informational meetings where regular education students learn about disabilities from experts
and parents of students, meetings to discuss and plan activities, and whole club activities
(shopping, movies, open gym nights, etc). The most important aspect of the club is the “buddy
system”, when each of the regular education members is paired up with a student from the STEP
program. The friendships that develop are a growing and rewarding experience for everyone involved.
