About the Library :::
The LTHS Library Media Centers offer students access to a wide variety of print and electronic
resources. Computer networks at both libraries provide thousands of full-text magazine and
newspaper articles, as well as other full-text materials and indexes. Home access is
available. In addition to web access, the networks also support the Internet and the online
catalog, Follett. The libraries’ periodical collections include subscriptions to
monthly and weekly magazines, and several local and national newspapers.
Professional materials for faculty/staff are also provided. Both libraries are open
school days from
7:15 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
The staffs at both campuses encourage teachers to bring students to the libraries for research projects. Librarians are always available to consult with teachers to help develop research-based assignments through which students gain experience in gathering information and in using critical thinking skills. While support of the curriculum is one of the primary goals of the Library Media Center program, the librarians also promote and encourage leisure reading by students and faculty. The Audiovisual staff is also available to help students with media production. AV specialists work with both individuals and classes to develop videos, slide-tape programs, photographs, tapes, and other visual or audio projects which enhance student presentations.
As a member of Metropolitan Library System, the LT libraries can obtain materials from other
area public and academic libraries via fax and inter-library loan. The librarians are also
skilled in online searching and using the Internet, and they offer these services to students and
staff.
