A 1972 graduate, Henri Boyd's commitment to community is expressed in the work she performs
as an actress arid in her involvement in local charitable organizations. She holds memberships in
the Screen Actors' Guild, the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists and the Actors'
Equity Association. Henri has more than 50 corporate film credits to her name, over a dozen
television commercials and a host of print ads to her credit as well. Playing title roles like
Sojourner Truth in "A Woman Called Truth," allowed her to deliver messages about important social
issues. Offstage, her community involvement has been exemplary. In 1992, Boyd served on the Zoning
Commission of LaGrange, the Board of Directors for the Community Extension Project, and founded the
Community Unity Organization dedicated to reestablishing the pride and dignity of living in a crime
free, positive community. The Community Unity Group spurred a Neighborhood Watch Group, a Court
Watch Group, a Community Policing Program, a Youth at Risk group, and a tutorial program for
elementary school children. She was instrumental in bringing national recognition to LaGrange when
Midwest Living Magazine awarded its Hometown Pride Award to Boyd's Community Unity Group In 1993,
she was awarded the Recognition Award by the LaGrange Area NAACP for her efforts encouraging
cultural sensitivity and equality. Boyd continues to serve her community as Director of the Kids at
Work after school tutorial program.
