A 1981 graduate of Lyons Township High School, Mr. Hornacek entered Iowa State University in 1982. Although not recruited to play basketball, Mr. Hornacek was determined to play at Iowa State University and made the team as a "walk on". Playing mostly off the bench, Mr. Hornacek started one game and was named the player of the game. Mr. Hornacek started every game after that. After his college career, Mr. Hornacek was drafted by the Phoenix Suns in the second round of the NBA draft. Not only did Mr. Hornacek make the team, he became a starter. During his time with the Phoenix Suns he was a leader in scoring, free throw shooting percent, steals, three point shooting, and assists in the NBA. At one point, Mr. Hornacek was the top free throw shooter in the NBA. After becoming the shooting guard for the Phoenix Suns, Mr. Hornacek earned a spot on the 1992 NBA All Star Team. Since 1992 Mr. Hornacek has played for the Philadelphia 76er's where he is a guard and captain of the team. Mr. Hornacek is active in the Literacy Program and donates time and money annually to charities. Mr. Hornacek and his wife Stacy have two children and reside in Arizona and New Jersey.
