A 1965 graduate of Lyons Township High School, Mr. McWethy went to DePauw University and received a Bachelor of Arts in English and Political Science. After graduating 1969, Mr. McWethy attended Columbia University and received a Master of Science in Journalism. Mr. McWethy wrote for Congressional Quarterly from 1970-72 and U.S. News & World Report from 1972-79. Working for ABC News as Senior State Department & National Security correspondent for the past 14 years Mr. McWethy has been able to cover such historical events as the Persian Gulf war and the collapse of the Soviet Union. Mr. McWethy received two Emmy Awards, the DuPont-Columbia University award for excellence in journalism, the Edward R. Murrow Award and the Headliner Award. Mr. McWethy's published work is entitled Power of the Pentagon. Not only is Mr. McWethy busy with professional organizations such as serving as the president of the State Department Correspondence Association, he also finds time to be a Sunday School teacher and Youth Worship leader at the Arlington Unitarian Church. Mr. McWethy and his wife Laurie, have two sons and reside in Washington D.C.
