2010-2011 Student Government :::
Lyons Township High School is pleased to announce the Student Government Officers for the 2010-2011 school year. Students campaigned for their chosen positions and were elected by their peers. Each officer will serve a one-year term beginning in August.
Student Council is involved in numerous aspects of student life at LTHS, from holding two blood drives to organizing the All-School Assembly. Student Council also plays a large role in the two school dances, which both set a record high for attendance, with 3,155 students attending Homecoming and 2,620 students attending King of Hearts. This year, Student Council chose to donate one dollar from each dance ticket to two worthy charities, with proceeds from Homecoming going to Cause & Affect and those from King of Hearts going to Students’ Hearts for Haiti. Student Council also organizes a Secret Santa gift drive, as well as a Senior Citizens’ Prom.
The 2010-2011 Student Council Officers are senior S. Palmer (President), senior K. Arsenault (First Vice President), sophomore K. Shannon (Second Vice President), senior A. Jackson (Treasurer), and senior S. Lauk (Secretary). Senior H. Bucheleres will serve as the Student Representative to the Board of Education.
Each grade level elects Class Board officers who plan and assist with various events and fundraisers throughout the year. In addition, any and all students are welcome to join the Class Board for their grade level. The Senior Class Board is responsible for the purchase of a class gift. The Class of 2010 chose to purchase a female lion statue to accompany the male lion statue in front of the North Campus gymnasiums in the spirit of equality and symmetry.
The following students were elected to the Senior Class Board for the Class of 2011: M. Nora (President), K. Beglen (Vice President), C. Savas (Treasurer), and R. Daoud (Secretary). The Class of 2012 chose to elect E. Wennerstrum (President), O. Smaniotto (Vice President), B. Groya (Treasurer), and J. Jones (Secretary) to its Junior Class Board. The following students were chosen by the Class of 2013 as Sophomore Class Board Officers: J. Halpin (President), C. Hughes (Vice President), M. Hasty (Treasurer), and M. Kirklys (Secretary). The Freshman Class Board for the Class of 2014 will elect officers soon after the 2010-2011 school year begins.
