LTHS business students compete, win at State competition

Congratulations are in order for members of the Lyons Township High School Business Professionals of America (BPA). LT students recently competed in the State-level BPA Leadership Conference contests, with eight qualifying for national competitions. LT students performed extremely well in a variety of categories, including Fundamental Accounting, Java Programming, Extemporaneous Speech, PC Servicing & Troubleshooting, Fundamental Word Processing, Visual Basic, and more. The BPA national competitions will be held May 4-8 in Washington D.C.

In the words of their faculty sponsors, “the students were professional, mature, and made LT standout!” The students are led and coached by business teachers Kimberly Welch and Jennifer Steele.

Business Professionals of America is a national organization for high school and college students preparing for careers in business and office administration. The organization’s activities and program complement classroom instruction by giving students practical experience through application of skills learned at school. BPA contributes to the preparation of a world-class workforce through the advancement of leadership, citizenship, academic, and technological skills.
