Flamingos Flock for Funds :::

Huge flocks of pink flamingos are swarming local residences. They aren't vacationing up north or escapees from the zoo. Rather, they are part of a fundraising effort hatched by the Lyons Township High School National Honor Society.

Residents who get "flocked" will wake up to a swarm of between 40-50 pink flamingos and one of three signs available for the front lawn: “Happy Birthday,” “Congratulations,” or “Surprise.” The birds are put up the evening before the event, stay up day of event, and are taken down the day after the event.

Society members are taking orders for flamingo flockings now through early December, (depending on weather) and will start up again from March through May, 2010.

The cost of a flocking is $25, must be ordered at least two weeks in advance, and be located within the LTHS district. Please email NHS sponsor Katie O’Boyle at koboyle@lths.net with the request; be sure to include the sign message, your phone number, address of the flocking, and the date of the event.

Proceeds from the project will help support a local charity.
