The official grand opening of the South Campus pool and fieldhouse on Monday, August 14, 2006, was a huge success. More than 800 people came out to help celebrate our newest facilities. Here are a few photos and interesting facts about the pool and fieldhouse.

The pool is approximately 39,000 square feet.
The pool is designed to be 82 degrees and 60% relative humidity all year round.
Heat generated to dehumidify the pool is recaptured to the heat the pool water.
There are 1,173 new pool lockers for students, staff, and community use.
The pool capacity is 338 swimmers.
The pool is 12' 6" deep and 3'6" at the shallow end.
The pool contains 400,400 gallons of water that filter every 5.5 hours.
The pool water weighs more than 3.3 million pounds.
If you filled gallon jugs with water from the pool, they would stretch from LTHS to the Wisconsin border.
The fieldhouse bleachers hold 2000 people.
The running track is 528 feet long and is 10 laps to 1 mile.
The fieldhouse floor is desinged for track, badminton, and soccer.
The fieldhouse is 42,000 square feet.
There are 11 curtains that roll down in the fieldhouse.
The 42 fieldhouse joists weigh in excess of 117 tons.
There were over 200,000 face bricks used for the pool and fieldhouse.
