3 Perfect ACTs :::
Three Lyons Township High School seniors achieved a perfect composite score of 36 on the April 2007 Prairie State Achievement Exam administration of the ACT. No other school in Illinois had more students achieve a perfect score on this April ACT testing date.
Last school year, more than 140,000 Illinois students from the class of 2007 took the ACT on a variety of testing dates throughout the year. Those testing dates garnered just 68 perfect composite scores.
The ACT primarily serves as a measure of a student's preparation for college coursework in the first year of college. ACT scores are curriculum-based achievement tests designed to assess critical reasoning and high-order thinking skills in English, mathematics, reading, and science.
LTHS perfect scorerers include A. Bresticker, S. Boots, and A. Cheng.
A. Bresticker
Ranked in the top 3% of the senior class, Brestickler has been a strong contributor to the
Math Team, having participated on various teams at State competition since his freshman year. His
sights set on math, science and/or technology, he is considering the engineering field. This past
summer he was able to put his computer skills to work at the University of Chicago Hospitals,
writing a wireless electronic billing computer application for the Biological Sciences Department.
He also spent the summer as a counselor at a technology camp for visually impaired children. In his
free time, Andrew plays piano and guitar, volunteers at his church and tutors middle school
children after school.
S. Boots
Boots is no by-stander in the world around her. Whether she is speaking out about
global warming, protesting and petitioning against genocide in Darfur, or trying to uncover every
side of a story in an article for the Lion student newspaper, She applies herself to each activity.
Writing of some fashion - creative, journalism, fiction or nonfiction - is in her future.
Currently, she serves as copy editor for Lion and has been both a prose and poetry reader for
Menagerie, LT’s literary magazine.
A. Cheng
As the resident expert on U.S. Presidents, knowing all presidents in order and the
dates they served in office, Cheng is a major force on the Scholastic Bowl Team. She is also a
State medal-winning member and vice president of the Math Team. Currently ranked second in the
senior class, her schedule is packed with Advanced Placement courses. Proud of her Chinese
heritage, Cheng has traveled to China no less than 10 times and spent last summer in Shanghai with
relatives, learning about her culture and perfecting her fluency in Mandarin.
