Scholastic Bowl Success :::

LTHS Scholastic Bowlers strike success

The Lyons Township High School Scholastic Bowl Team won the Sectional tournament, with three wins and zero losses – beating out Hinsdale South, Hinsdale Central and Marist High School. LT advanced the State tournament as one of the Elite 8 Teams.
Scholastic Bowl is a fast-paced game similar to Jeopardy played by teams. Each team consists of five players, and the players try to "buzz in" more quickly than the other team when a toss-up question is read. If the player answers correctly, his or her team gets ten points and an opportunity to answer a four-part bonus question worth up to twenty points. The team then has thirty seconds to talk amongst themselves about the answers to each part of the question. If a player answers incorrectly, the other teams get an opportunity to answer the toss-up. A match consists of about twenty toss-up and bonus questions and the team with the most points at the end of the match wins. Questions can fall in many different categories - including History, Literature, Music, Mathematics, Earth Science, Biology, Driver's Ed, Home Economics, etc.
