Lyons Township High School Student Awarded IT Scholarship
Lyons Township High School announced today that senior N. Litecki was awarded the CompTIA –
Computing Technology Industry Association – IT Merit Award for achievements in Information
Technology (IT) studies. The award is a $250 cash scholarship to be used toward continuing
education in the IT industry.
Certification programs empower students with the necessary knowledge to compete for the
available high paying and rewarding IT positions, especially for students who are not pursing
college degrees.
“Lyons Township commends Nicolas Litecki for his outstanding work and well deserved
recognition,” Programming in JAVA teacher Matt VanDiepen said, “CompTIA’s support of IT education
has made it possible for students like Nicolas to successfully prepare for their careers.”
All students at CompTIA-member schools are eligible for the CompTIA IT Merit Award program.
To be considered for the program, high school seniors must have completed an accredited
certification program, like CompTIA’s A+, which provides the skills necessary to begin a career in
IT.
The CompTIA IT Merit Awards program underscores the importance of technology training and
development in today’s workforce. CompTIA has endowed $1 million to its Educational Foundation to
provide funding for the CompTIA IT Merit Awards. Twice a year, the program will award $250 in cash
to students who have obtained a CompTIA certification for use toward the recipient’s continuing
education in the IT industry.
