About the LTHS Band Program

The band program at Lyons Township High School is comprised of 4 curricular bands. There are 2 Concert Bands (made up of freshmen and sophomores), one Symphonic Band (juniors and seniors) and one Wind Ensemble (membership is by audition and is open to sophomores, juniors and seniors). All bands meet during the school day. Students receive course credit and a grade for band class. This also fulfills their fine arts credit for graduation.

Recent Highlights:
Performed at the Northshore Band Festival at Northwestern University (2010, 2009, 2008, 2007, 2006)
Joint concert with Chicago Brass Band and LTHS Wind Ensemble (2008)
Added Wind Ensemble class at LT (2006)

All 4 curricular bands combine to form the Marching Lions Marching Band. The LT Marching Band performs at home football games and several local parades.

Trip and Premier Parade Performance in Walt Disney World (2010, 2008, 2006)
Colorguard marched in Chicago Thanksgiving Day Parade (2007)
Performed at Carl Sandburg Marching Band Festival (2007)
Performed at the U.S. Open Soccer Championship game at Toyota Park (2006)
Performed in the Chicago Columbus Day Parade (2006)

There are 3 jazz bands at Lyons Township High School. The Jazz Ensemble is an auditioned group which meets as a class during the school day and is open to juniors and seniors. The Jazz Lab Band and Jazz Band are extracurricular activities and meet twice a week after school and are open to all students.
