David C. Beckwith

  • A 1960 graduate, Mr. Beckwith graduated from Carleton College in 1964 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. He continued his education at Columbia University where he received a Master of Science in Journalism in 1965. After reporting news for the Minneapolis Star and the Houston Chronicle from 1965-69, Mr. Beckwith went to the J.D. University of Texas Law School and graduated in 1971. From 1971-78 he was a correspondent and legal editor of Time Magazine. In 1978, Mr. Beckwith became the founding editor of The Legal Times. He went back to Time Magazine in 1981 and worked there for nine more years. Mr. Beckwith became press secretary for the United States Vice President Dan Quayle in 1989. After the Bush administration, Mr. Beckwith became the campaign manager for Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson of Texas. Currently, Mr. Beckwith is a political consultant in Washington D.C. Mr. Beckwith is a member of the Texas and Washington D.C. bars and he is a board member of the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press. He is married and has two children.
