2023 NHS Application

  • Juniors and Seniors who qualify will receive an invitation through US Postal Service by February 6th. If you did not receive an invite, but believe you qualify, please reach out to one of the sponsors.

  • Application Information

Complete all sections of the application; highlighting how you believe you demonstrate the four pillars of NHS. You will officially submit your application here. The deadline to submit your completed application is FEBRUARY 28, 2023 - no late applications accepted.

    Teacher/Coach/Sponsor Recommendations

You are required to have three recommendations from LT faculty members in support of your application into the National Honor Society. One of the three recommendations can be from an LT Coach or Sponsor or three teachers. If you have a coach or sponsor outside of LT, you may list them in the activities section or in your character statement, but all recommendations should come from LTHS Faculty. We recommend you contact faculty members and provide them with the link (www.lths.net/NHSRec) so they may submit a recommendation on your behalf. Note: this link does not work for students.

    Volunteer Hours

You are required to have a minimum of 10 service hours during your high school career to apply. Service hours can be completed through LT or outside organizations. Simply list your hours on the application; we may follow up to verify volunteer hours.

    NHS Selection and Induction Ceremony

Students that submit completed applications will be notified of their acceptance via US Postal Service mail on or before April 1, 2023. The National Honor Society Induction Ceremony date will be announced later.

If selected to be a member of NHS as a junior (Class of 2024), the membership expectations are to:

    • Acquire a minimum of 25 volunteer hours (April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024) by participating in opportunities within LTHS and outside of LTHS.
    • Participate in the NHS Day of Service on April 15, 2023.
    • Attend meetings unless you have an excused absence. Excused absences include illness, doctor’s appointments, etc.
    • Comply with school and community rules and laws. Evidence of noncompliance includes, but is not limited to, an out-of-school suspension, referrals, plagiarism or cheating, or conviction of a criminal offense.
    • ALL volunteer* hours must be logged into the x2VOL system to provide verification to your sponsors.
*Volunteer means non-paid, no compensation in any way (money, trade for goods, grades, etc.)

Failure to comply with the above requirements will remove the designation of National Honor Society from your official high school transcript.

If selected to be a member of NHS as a senior (Class of 2023), the membership expectations are to:

    • Participate in the NHS Day of Service on April 15, 2023.
    • Acquire a minimum of 5 additional volunteer hours (March 1 - April 28, 2023) by participating in opportunities within LTHS and outside of LTHS.
