About LTHS Athletics
On Monday, January 18, Governor Pritzker announced that suburban Cook County will transition to COVID-19 Tier 2 Mitigations. For Lyons Township High School, this means we can resume in-person clubs/activities, athletics, and fine arts meetings and events. Please note the resumption of in-person activities will include appropriate health and safety precautions. In addition, the maximum group size for a meeting/event is 50 individuals (staff and students) within a single space.
Low-risk sports can begin practice immediately and will begin competition on a future date to be determined by the IHSA Board of Directors. High-risk sports can immediately begin team training with no physical contact. According to the IHSA, low-risk winter sports include badminton, boys swimming & diving, cheerleading, dance, boys & girls bowling, and girls gymnastics. In addition, boys and girls basketball are the only high-risk winter sports allowed.
Athletic coaches and club/activity sponsors will be communicating with students and families soon regarding additional details, instructions, and schedules.
If you have questions regarding activities, athletics, and/or fine arts, please contact the following individual:
Also, please remember that if your student intends to be on campus at any time, they must complete the daily health screener and show the confirmation email.
LT offers a variety of sports and activities at different levels, giving students the opportunity to improve athletic abilities and develop the desirable, intrinsic qualities derived from competition. LT is a member of the Silver Division of the West Suburban Conference.
All students wishing to participate in athletics must have a current physical and complete an Athletic Eligibility form. This form must be presented to the coach or sponsor of the activity on the first day of practice. The Athletic Department requires each participant to complete a new form for each sport season. This insures the safety of the athlete, and also updates the athletic eligibility files.
