BREADCRUMB

About the LTHS Band Program

The band program at Lyons Township High School is comprised of 4 curricular bands. There are 2 Concert Bands (made up of freshmen and sophomores), one Symphonic Band (juniors and seniors) and one Wind Ensemble (membership is by audition and is open to sophomores, juniors and seniors). All bands meet during the school day. Students receive course credit and a grade for band class. This also fulfills their fine arts credit for graduation.

All four curricular bands combine to form the Marching Lions Marching Band. The LT Marching Band performs at home football games and several local parades. The marching band rehearses one night a week during football season (usually only 7 or 8 times). Rehearsals are scheduled to avoid conflicts with other activities and sporting events.

There are three jazz bands at Lyons Township High School. The Jazz Ensemble is an auditioned group which meets as a class during the school day and is open to juniors and seniors. The Jazz Lab Band and Jazz Band are extracurricular activities and meet twice a week after school and are open to all students.
