Cyber Defense Club

In addition to the exercises and competitions outlined by the National Youth Cyber Education Program, the National Cyber League (NCL), and College of DuPage's GenCyber programs, LT’s Cyber Defense Club members have opportunities to interact with professionals in the cybersecurity industry, learning from their experiences to understand what they do, how they do it and how they prepared for their careers. Those interactions may be in person or via web conferencing during club meetings.

Club Highlights

    National Cyber League
    • "The NCL Competition provides students with experience in solving real-world cybersecurity challenges such as identifying hackers from forensic data, pentesting and auditing vulnerable websites, recovering from ransomware attacks, and more."
    • Registration and "Gymnasium" activities are currently underway
    • Practice Game - March 30-April 5
    • Individual Game - April 10-12
    • Team Game - April 24-26
  • CyberFire Puzzle Competition
    • Hosted at College of DuPage
    • February 7, 2026 - 1-7p.m.
  • CyberPatriot XVIII Competition:
    • As part of "the National Youth Cyber Education Program, created by the Air & Space Forces Association to inspire K-12 students toward careers in cybersecurity or other science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines critical to our nation's future," CyberPatriot hosts "the nation's largest cyber defense competition that puts high school and middle school students in charge of securing virtual networks."
    • LT's participation in the competition has concluded for the 2025-26 school year.
      • LT's Squad 1 - "Ciscophus" - achieved a Second Place finish in the State of Illinois, Open Division, Platinum Tier (top 30% nationally).
      • LT's Squads 2 and 3 - "Poseidon" and "Thanatos" - also competed in the Open Division, at the Platinum and Gold Tiers, respectively.
