Music Improv
Music Improv is a student-centered, co-curricular musical group designed to help students explore improvisation techniques on their instruments. Students will learn and practice skills such as reading chord charts and lead sheets, playing a confident melody, and harmonizing important notes in a song. The group focuses on musical styles aligned with the interests of its members, which may include pop, folk, fiddle, classical, and jazz. Students learn how to perform each style with a characteristic sound and groove, and work on playing by ear with other musicians in a non-traditional setting. Students develop a license to improvise rhythm, melody, and accompanying parts within songs.
Music Improv is open to LTHS students with prior playing experience on any musical instrument. Students must bring their own instruments to club meetings.
