Criteria for Invitation
Students that meet the minimum standard of scholarship of an un-weighted GPA of 3.5 or higher or a weighted GPA of 4.25 or higher) will be invited to apply. NHS invitations would come to those who match this criterion following their 5th semester (2nd semester junior year). Seniors who are not members of NHS, but meet the criteria, will be invited to apply after the end of their 7th semester (2nd semester senior year).
Four Pillars of NHS
SCHOLARSHIP: Student has a cumulative GPA of 3.5 (unweighted) or 4.25 (weighted).
SERVICE: Student demonstrates commitment to community and others by rendering assistance to others in a dependable, enthusiastic, and well-organized manner. Student must provide evidence of AT LEAST 10 volunteer hours during high school prior to the NHS application deadline.
LEADERSHIP: Student demonstrates initiative in planning, leading and maintaining participation in activities at LT or outside of LT.
CHARACTER: Student exemplifies desirable qualities of personality while upholding principles of morality and ethics both in and outside of the classroom. Student can show that he/she upholds principles of morality and ethics; consistently exemplifies perseverance, desirable qualities of behavior, and shows courtesy, concern, and respect for others; and manifests truthfulness in acknowledging obedience to rules. If there have been any documented incidents of plagiarism/cheating, Code of Conduct violations, or threats against students or teachers, the applicant will automatically be disqualified.
