BREADCRUMB

Sinfonietta

Sinfonietta is an auditioned junior/senior string orchestra dedicated to the study and performance of advanced string orchestra literature and chamber music. Much of the repertoire will be performed without a conductor, so soloistic playing and independent part mastery is expected. In Sinfonietta students use a culmination of prior knowledge about orchestral playing, ear training, and musical literacy to self-diagnose and analyze rehearsals, giving input for improvement. The majority of Sinfonietta students study privately on their instruments. Sinfonietta joins the Symphony Orchestra to perform large orchestral works. Auditions occur annually around the first week of March.
