LIONS AGE GROUP WRESTLING PROGRAM

PROGRAM: Lions Wrestling Club is a program for elementary and middle school students that stresses the fun and fundamentals of wrestling. The program also introduces competition with other clubs and provides a training site and complete schedule for the more experienced wrestlers.

The program will run from November 11, 2025, through February 26, 2026.

AGES: Kids in 1st through 8th grade living in the LYONS TOWNSHIP SCHOOL DISTRICT. Younger wrestlers if accompanied by an adult.

IMPORTANT NOTE: ALL first time REGISTRANTS MUST PROVIDE A PHOTOCOPY OF THEIR BIRTH CERTIFICATE AT THE TIME OF REGISTRATION. PLEASE BRING THIS TO THE FIRST PRACTICE/ PARENT MEETING 11/11!

PARENT MEETING: We will have a parent meeting on Tues. 11/11 at 6pm before the first practice.

PRACTICES: Beginning Tues. 11/11 at 6pm, practices will be in the Vaughan Gym of the North Campus of Lyons Township High School. 

The developmental group is for wrestlers that are new to the sport of wrestling or in third grade and below. The goal of the developmental group is to foster an understanding of the positions and rules of folkstyle wrestling as well as learning some fundamental techniques of wrestling. This group is encouraged to attempt at least two tournaments throughout the season one of which is the LT informal meet in the Vaughn Gym.

The competition group will meet Tues., Wed., and Thurs. from 6-7:30pm. The competition group is for wrestlers in their 3rd year of wrestling or 4th grade and older. The goal of the competition group is to build off skills learned in the developmental group as well as match strategy and advanced wrestling fundamentals and techniques. All competition group members are engorged to compete in tournaments throughout the year as well as the IKWF State Series 

The Middle School group is for wrestlers that are part of their schools IESA team(Gurrie or Park) they will practice three days a week until the start of their season and then have the option to attend competition group practices that meet Wednesdays, as well as practices over winter break.

A practice schedule and competition calendar will be passed out the first night and available on our website. Link below. Please check the calendar often as all practice dates are tentative and can change, all changes will be made with at least 24 hour notice.

UNIFORM: Socks, tee shirt, elastic waist shorts, and wrestling shoes or gym shoes.

COST: Development Group is $250, $175 for each additional family member. This fee includes a tee shirt, shorts and IKWF, USA wrestling membership ($50). 

Competition Group is $300, $225 for each additional family member. This fee includes a tee shirt, shorts and IKWF, USA wrestling membership ($50) as well as a portion of tournament fees.

Middle School Group is $75, this fee includes a tee shirt and shorts. This cost does NOT include a USAW Wrestling card.
