LT Launches Strategic Plan Process

Plan Team Invite

Lyons Township High School is excited to present “Inspire LT”, a stakeholder-engaged strategic planning process that will occur during Spring 2022!

We are proud of the traditions we enjoy at LT, and because we are always looking to improve the experience for our students and families, we are excited to launch a process that will help inspire the future for our school community.

Between January 13-28, LT will communicate additional details that will include a request for participation and a request to complete a stakeholder survey. For those interested in serving on the Strategic Plan Team, we need your commitment to participate in the following upcoming workshops:

  • Kick-off: Monday, January 31, 2022
    • 6:00p-8:00p (Zoom)

Members of the Strategic Plan Team, will analyze data, discuss and identify strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities within our school community, and help identify our core values and priorities. Ultimately, the “Inspire LT” Strategic Planning process will be an engaging opportunity for staff, students, parents, alumni, business leaders, and community members to shape the future of our great school!

All interested individuals should complete a brief Plan Team Interest Form by Friday, January 21. The information submitted will be reviewed and selections to the Plan Team will be made in a manner that ensures representation from our entire school community.

Please note, in addition to the Strategic Plan Team, there will be multiple opportunities throughout the upcoming semester for our school community to participate in the strategic planning process through surveys, focus groups, and communications.

We are excited to honor our traditions, innovate together and inspire the future at Lyons Township High School!

January 31 Orientation Workshop

On Monday, January 31, the InspireLT Strategic Plan Team participated in a virtual Kick-Off meeting. Superintendent Dr. Brian Waterman welcomed all those in attendance and thanked everyone for their time and commitment to the Strategic Planning process. The Strategic Planning process was explained, along with team members’ roles and responsibilities, and the purpose of future meetings. The team participated in two breakout sessions to discuss and identify key concepts and items that they feel should assist the team as it works together to set a new direction for the district.

February 24 Data Retreat

On Thursday, February 24, the InspireLT Strategic Plan Team participated in a full-day Data Retreat. The team was presented with a variety of information and data in an effort to describe our current reality. The team then, in turn, utilized this data to collaboratively develop a draft list of our school community’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT). During the week of March 7, our community will have the opportunity to provide input into the draft SWOT so that we can ensure we are accurately representing our strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. The final version of the SWOT will be used by the InspireLT team on March 17 to begin drafting a vision for our future.

March 17 Vision Retreat

On Thursday, March 17, the InspireLT Strategic Plan Team participated in a full-day Vision Retreat and turned their attention to the question, “Where do we want to be?” The team examined a variety of resources to help determine what needs to change to better meet the needs of all high school students and their families for the future. During the Vision Retreat, the team revisited LT's mission, mottos, values, and beliefs. They also began to identify the successful characteristics of our graduates, our adults, and our system as a whole. During the week of April 4, our community will have the opportunity to provide input into the draft mission, vision, and graduate, adult and system portraits so that we can ensure we are accurately representing our core values. The final version of the vision items will be used by the InspireLT team on April 19.

April 19 Setting Direction Retreat

At the InspireLT Setting Direction Retreat on Tuesday, April 19, the Team discussed the essential question, "How will we get from where we are to where we want to be?" At the meeting, students and staff examined feedback on the Preferred Future Statement from the Vision Retreat and drafted long-range goals and aligned strategies.. The InspireLT Team then identified and prioritized critical goals and strategies to move the district closer to achieving its mission and vision, resulting in a Strategic Plan Draft. This first look at the new, evolving strategic plan will be shared with stakeholder groups to solicit feedback. The feedback will then be reviewed at the final meeting on May 11.
