“Yesterday there was a shooting in El Paso, Texas which left 20 people killed and more than two dozen injured. Sometimes the words don’t come easily, even though they’ve been written in so many ways so many times before. We were just mourning for Gilroy, and Brooklyn, and Philadelphia, last weekend, and in perpetuity for communities and homes and families across America every day. We cannot allow our generation to think this is normal. So we will mourn for another American city torn apart by gun violence, and for the dozens of families shattered by today’s tragedy. Numbers that represent people, with lives, and dreams, and plans. With broken hearts we will work to honor them and protect the people we still can.” -Sandy Hook Promise
The SAVE Promise Club is a student run club associated with Sandy Hook Promise (SHP) organization. Sandy Hook Promise is a national non-profit organization founded and led by family members whose children were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14, 2012. The main focus of SHP is to prevent gun violence (and other forms of violence) before it happens by educating and mobilizing schools, parents and communities on mental health and wellness programs that identify, intervene, and help at risk individuals.
SAVE (Students Against Violence Everywhere) Promise Clubs are part of SHP and are a place for young people across the country to show their leadership, creativity and passion for protecting their friends, schools and communities from violence before it happens.
