Students who are enrolled in the Chefs Program are the members of the Catering Club. Chefs 1 & Chefs 2 students are automatically in the club through the classes, but any student may participate before or after school. Students are exposed many aspects of food preparation and, most importantly, that such an undertakings involve a collaborative effort. Students enrolled the Chefs Program rotate through jobs as they learn the various aspects of working in and running a restaurant style food service or catering atmosphere.
Within the curriculum of the course and everyday lab operation, the class also caters a variety of district events and activities, tests and tweaks recipes that they feel would appeal to potential consumers, and prepare “Gourmet to Go” meals available for purchase.
