Message from Secretary General

  • Dear Delegates, Advisors, and Friends of LYMUN,

My name is Abby Gee and I will be serving as your Secretary General this year for LYMUN VII! I am very pleased to welcome you all to our conference taking place on February 27th, held virtually over Zoom. This is my fourth year participating in this conference and I can’t wait to meet you all. While this year’s LYMUN will be held via an online platform, we hope to expand and advance on the traditional Model United Nations conference that you all have come to know. This conference offers committees for both new and experienced delegates, so we are excited to have you all participate. Year after year, LYMUN has been a successful conference because it serves as a great opportunity for delegates to experience real cooperation and communication. It offers interesting topics between each committee along with skillful chairs, and allows delegates to broaden their interests in politics and foreign diplomacy. Furthermore, LYMUN serves as a great training conference where both experienced and new delegates can improve their public speaking skills and learn more about the subject at hand. Even if this is your very first conference, don’t be afraid to raise your placard or ask your chair questions! The experiences you have at Model UN conferences, especially at LYMUN, are unforgettable and significant in your future, even over Zoom.

The LTMUN club and I wish you all the best of luck this year and hope you have a great time participating in committee. LYMUN staff and chairs have worked hard over the past year to provide you all with the best virtual conference experience possible. Whether the committee is a crisis, general assembly, or specialized, delegates are bound to find themselves in a committee that matches their interests and specialties. With committees taking the virtual environment into consideration, we are excited to provide an unforgettable experience for all in attendance. I know that doing MUN virtually is unorthodox and definitely a little scary, but I sincerely hope that all delegates can step outside their comfort zones and have fun in committee.

Our team recognizes the difficulties surrounding the coordination of a Zoom LYMUN, so the LTMUN chairs and Secretariat are prepared to be as flexible as possible to allow you all to participate in the conference. If I can be of any assistance to you all throughout the process or answer any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me!

I look forward to seeing you all on February 27th!

    Best Regards,
    Abby Gee
    Secretary General, LYMUN VII
