Announcements

  • LTHS will pause the winter athletic season as directed by both the IHSA and the IDPH and the governor’s office, effective November 20. We have also decided to mirror this pause throughout all of our extracurricular programs.

Governor Pritzker announced on November 17 that all of Illinois will move to Tier 3 of COVID-19 restrictions starting at 12:01 a.m. on November 20.  In an announcement, IHSA Executive Director Craig Anderson stated, “The Illinois High School Association recognizes that today’s announcement (November 17) by Governor Pritzker will temporarily pause the IHSA’s winter sports season.”

As we sort through the ever-changing landscape, we continue to believe that our students need and will benefit from our extracurricular programs. We do not know when the winter athletic season will begin again, but we will continue to monitor the situation and reopen our programs when it is approved by the IHSA, IDPH and governor’s office. As always, we want our students, families, and sponsors to be safe and healthy. That is our top priority.

This pause will continue until at least December 4, 2020, with a possible extension beyond that date if COVID numbers do not improve both locally and in the state as a whole. We will continue to monitor the situation and communicate updates during the week of November 30, 2020.
