Western Springs Historical Society Student Volunteer Opportunities

Ekdahl House Museum CaretakerList of Duties:

• Weekly visit to site to secure the grounds are tidy.
• Monthly visits to clean windows and outdoor display signage
• Ongoing snow and ice removal as needed

Digital Scanning
Working with Archive team on nights and weekends at the Archive to scan our collection of historic
photos.

Graphic Design
Create simple brochures with content & photos other student volunteers have collected.

Museum Docent
Docent opportunities at the Tower Museum are available on Saturday mornings between 10:00 -Noon every week.

Ekdahl House Museum App Audio Tour
We are looking for volunteers to work on creating an audio app tour of our outdoor museum. We need team members to assist on the script writing, voice audio and along with implementing the app program.

CAD Drawings of Museums
Field verify dimension of museums and exhibits and ad to existing CAD document.

Recently Closed Businesses Archive
Through online research, document businesses from Western Springs that have closed using their past digital footprint.

Digital Archive of Western Springs Community Venues
For this project, each location would have a digital file with a building photo, interior image(s) and a Word document with address and any basic info you would be able to get on the current venue. Venue examples would be Churches, Government and Businesses

Virtual 2nd Grade Tour of Water Tower Museum
Traditionally second graders from Western Springs make an annual trip to the Water Tower Museum to learn about Western Springs History. A request has been made by teachers for us to provide some sort virtual tour for them during Covid-19. This project will require coordination and face to face contact with Museum Docents.
