Western Springs Historical Society Student Volunteer Opportunities

Interested students should send an email to info@westernspringshistory.org with your name and LTHS Volunteer Request in the subject of the email. Please include what project you might be interested in in the body of the email.

Children’s Museum Docent:
Docent opportunities at the Tower Museum are available on Saturday mornings between 10:00 - Noon every week.

Ekdahl House Museum Caretaker - List of Duties:

• Weekly visit to site to secure the grounds are tidy.
• Monthly visits to clean windows and outdoor display signage
• Ongoing snow and ice removal as needed

Digital Scanning
Work directly with WSHS Archivist to scan slides and photos. 

• Summer Hours: Tuesday 9:00-Noon 
• After School Hours are flexible     

Transcribing Documents to Digital
Retyping scan copies of older documents to create digital files. 

Graphic Design
Create simple brochures with content & photos other student volunteers have collected.

Digital Archive of Western Springs Retail Businesses
For this project, each location would have a digital file with a building photo, interior image(s) and a Word document with address and any basic info you would be able to get on the current venue. This project would start with our downtown business district. 

Leadership Roles
Leadership positions are available to volunteers who show interest & commitment over time.

Ekdahl House Museum App Audio Tour
We are looking for volunteers to work on creating an audio app tour of our outdoor museum. We need team members to assist on the script writing, voice audio and along with implementing the app program.
