Start with Hello

LT’s SAVE (Students Against Violence Everywhere) Promise Club, in partnership with Sandy Hook Promise, a national non-profit organization led by several family members whose loved ones were killed in the tragic mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012, is taking part in the National Start with Hello Week from September 23- 27.

Start with Hello brings attention to the growing epidemic of social isolation and helps builds empathy in classrooms and schools. The program empowers students in sustaining a culture of inclusiveness and connectedness.

The Start with Hello call to action week will take place at high schools throughout the country September 23- 27. During the week, LT counselors and LT’s SAVE Promise Club will host daily announcements, school-wide activities, optional student training and more.

Daily activities will include the following:
Monday: Candy Give Away
Students will receive a free treat from the SAVE Promise Club during their lunch

Tuesday: Morning Water Bottle Sticker Giveaway
All students will receive a Start with Hello water bottle sticker on their way into school

Wednesday: Start with Hello Training
Students have an opportunity to receive Start with Hello training during their 6th period class

Thursday: Start with Hello video
Lunch time videos highlighting the three easy steps to Start with Hello!

Friday: Wear green or your SAVE t-shirt
Wear green, your SAVE t-shirt or display the Start with Hello water bottle and be eligible to receive a gift card from the SAVE Promise Club

Start with Hello raises awareness takes a small but powerful actions to promote connectedness and inclusion, and to identify and help lonely students who are showing signs of social isolation.
