Register for a free heart screening

Every two years, LT and Young Hearts for Life host free, easy and painless heart screenings for all students. The screening involves a brief three-minute ECG that can detect several threatening heart conditions, such as Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, the leading cause of death in young people.

Please consider signing up your student for a free screening. The screenings will be held Thursday, November 7, at South Campus and Thursday, November 14, at North Campus during PE or study hall classes.

This opportunity is strictly optional and is completely free to all LT students - not just athletes. All testing will include separate areas for males and females, with individual booths to ensure privacy.

You may register your child online for the screening at: Young Hearts for Life REGISTRATION

Your family will receive your child's results directly via the account you create when you register. LT will not have access to any medical information resulting from this screening. Any concerns identified through the screening process should be a matter of discussion with your own family physician.

Even if your student participated in a previous screening, experts strongly encourage students to be screened every two years.

For those with questions, please review the Young Hearts for Life informative website:  Frequently Asked Questions

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

An undertaking of this magnitude could never be accomplished without the support of many. We will need 200 parent volunteers to assist in the screening process. If you are interested in volunteering 4-8 hours of your time (no medical experience is necessary) either on Thursday, November 7, or Thursday, November 14, please sign up via the YH4L website.

All volunteers sign a confidentiality agreement and must go through a short training on the evening prior to the health screenings. Only the cardiologists who interpret the ECGs have access to the student's test results. LT will not receive ECG results.
