Former Lyons Township High School WLTL Radio staffer and 2019 graduate Lars Lonnroth was nominated for the National Scholastic Press Association Digital Story of the Year for 2019. He has two podcasts nominated, both of which appeared on the Lion website last school year.

This is not the first time Lonnroth was nominated for a national title for his journalism prowess. In fact, he won four national awards at the National School Press Association convention last fall and a national award from Intercollegiate Broadcast System Conference.

Winners of the Digital Story of the Year will be announced at the NSPA national convention in Washington DC, November. 21-24. Lion newspaper will be there. Last year, Lonnroth took 5th place and Honorable Mention in this national contest. This is the first time Lion has had a student nominated multiple times for the same category.

Lonnroth is studying journalism at Mercer University in Georgia.
