WLTL Radio Friday Night Lights Classics

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, all but six fall Lyons Township High School sports are on hold. To fill the sports void, WLTL 88.1FM will air classic sports broadcasts every Friday at 7pm. Broadcasts will include both football and boys’ soccer games.

The Friday Nights Lights Classics begin Friday, September 7, with a rebroadcast of LTHS football at Leyden from October 4, 2019. Other highlights include:

  • Ben Bryant’s first win as a QB for LTHS (he is now a quarterback at the University of Cincinnati)
  • A first-round playoff victory in 2012 that features now Philadelphia Eagles kicker Jake Elliott
  • The 2010 State Soccer Semi-Final and Championship games
  • Homecoming 2014 game vs Downers Grove North
  • Broadcasts and highlights from games in the 1970s and 1980s as well.

WLTL Radio Sponsor Chris Thomas says, “We are all missing sports right now, so we couldn’t think of a better way to share “live” sports with our audience while celebrating some great games from LT history.”

He added, “Along with reliving these classic games, it’s been a lot of fun hearing our alumni back on the air again, many of whom went on to continue their sports radio careers in college, and even some professionally.”
