LT names HOBY reps

Sophomores Olivia Grefenstette and Alexander Gojkovich were named the school’s representatives for the annual Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership (HOBY) Leadership Seminar. The HOBY award recognizes high school sophomores for their leadership talents and helps them become effective, ethical leaders in their home, schools, workplace and community.

Nearly 10,000 sophomores, representing as many high schools nationwide, attend 70 HOBY Leadership Seminars each year. The seminars provide a high level of energy, encouragement and motivation, as well as interaction with peers, panelists and volunteers to nurture your future leadership roles.

Students attending the HOBY seminar participate in hands-on leadership activities and meet state leaders in such as areas as business, government, education, media and the non-profit sector. Grefenstette and Gojkovich are scheduled to attend the HOBY state seminar this spring.

After each seminar, HOBY alumni are challenged to complete 100 hours of community service within the next year as a way to put their passion and newly built leadership skills into action.

HOBY began in 1958 under the leadership of TV actor and humanitarian Hugh O’Brian with the purpose of providing leadership development opportunities to educate and empower tomorrow’s young leaders.
