  • *JUNE 1st UPDATE* With the start of summer school this week, please note the following important updates:

    • The online portal is conducted within the "at-your-own-pace" structure.  Students have through July 31, 2020 to complete their content for submission and to earn credit for their summer class.
    • Students have through June 30, 2020 to drop a course with no impact on their official transcript and to receive a full refund.
    • Beginning July 1st, any cancellation requests will result in a W (withdrawal) on the transcript and no refunds processed for the cancellation.

    Information posted May 2020:

With the newly released guidance from the Illinois State Board of Education and Governor Pritzker, all summer programs must be held remotely. As a result, LTHS summer programming will significantly impacted.

Learn to Swim and all Summer Camps are canceled. Full refunds will be given.

Extended School Year (ESY) will be offered in a remote setting from June 8 to July 17. Parents of students who qualify for ESY will be contacted about the individualized plan developed for their student.

Read 180 will be offered as a language arts online learning lab through Illinois Virtual School free of charge to those who had been invited to Read 180, assuming they complete the course.

Driver Education will not be offered this summer. Due to social distancing, we cannot offer Behind-the-Wheel driving. Students are also unable to go to the Department of Motor Vehicles to get a permit. We will arrange to provide driving time in the fall or when we are able for Spring, 2020 students to finish their driving hours to qualify for a driver’s license. All those who registered for the summer will receive a full refund.

Summer School: A limited number of Summer School classes will be offered under a partnership with the Illinois Virtual School. Because of the nature of some of our summer classes, we will not be able to offer all classes that students signed up for.

Options for Students whose Summer Class is Canceled: Students who signed up for any other classes will have the opportunity to pay the additional fee and choose one of the online classes that is running or receive a refund for the course they enrolled in.

For students who needed a class that is not able to run during the LT summer school, LT allows transfer credits from accredited schools for a maximum of 1 credit (2 semesters or a year-long class). If students find a class at an accredited online school that they wish to take and transfer to LT to apply toward graduation credit, the syllabus of the course should be sent to the Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Scott Eggerding, who will consult with the academic Division chair to determine if the course will be approved. All costs associated with the course will be assumed by the student’s family. More information about transfer credits can be found in the academic program guide on page 24 under Alternative Educational Opportunities 1. Correspondence Courses/Edgenuity/Extension Study.
